Bryan Brooks has dipped his toe into pretty much every part of our operations. Now, he’s using his broad knowledge to help our customers!

Bryan, our former Logistics Coordinator, is embracing fresh opportunities and challenges in his new role as Business Development Representative. Instead of spending hours on the phone scheduling deliveries and shipments, he’s talking to our customers about their metal rolling and forming needs!

They’re in good hands. In the nearly three years in his former role, Bryan was involved to some degree with every in-house department.

He scheduled arrivals of raw materials to meet delivery timeframes scheduled by sales. He interacted regularly with our metal bending and metal fabrication production team on their progress. He deciphered the most feasible – and economical – means to ship finished products.

In short, he didn’t need to “get up to speed” on how things work. His organizational skills are a natural fit for creating and processing orders. The customer interaction part? This was new.

Forging new relationships, and proactively reaching out to others, were challenges. Bryan admits to being an introvert. He’s willing to adapt, though – and took an eight-week Dale Carnegie sales training class to do so.

He learned new skills, and refined others: making presentations. Engaging other people. Speaking effectively – and comfortably doing so before an audience. The education was time well spent.

Bryan enjoys working directly with customers, and meeting people at networking events. He relishes a steady workflow, and having a hand in the creation of products. Mostly, he appreciates helping customers’ visions become realities.

He’s still constantly learning. The sales process is never “by the book.” Each customer, and their needs, are different. Bryan’s years dealing with ever-shifting logistical schedules prepared him to roll with changes. Who wants “every day the same,” anyhow?

Our two longtime sales reps, Dave Nader and Nick Montijo, spotted Bryan’s potential for the role. They approached company President Al Sanders with their thoughts. He broached the idea with Bryan, who was ready for a new challenge.

So was rolling machine operator Melissa Kabacinski, who seamlessly moved from the production floor into the Logistics Coordinator role. She knew intimately the processes, recordkeeping, and time involved to create and finish products. Again, little “get up to speed” needed!

Institutional knowledge is priceless. It can never be replicated. We’re incredibly fortunate to have employees willing to try new things. They use their deep-seated experience to keep our operations humming - so that customers get what they want, when they want it.

Next time a want arises, feel free to call Bryan. He’ll be glad to make it a reality.
